What is thermal underwear and how does it work?
Maintaining warmth
Thermal underwear and thermal socks from Guahoo® reliably work even in the most difficult weather conditions creating the ideal microclimate. Air contained in the fabric of thermal underwear warms up when contacting the skin to form an air layer that helps to achieve this effect. We use special high-bulk cellular yarn for these purposes. This helps to increase air volume contained in the fabric allows our garments to remain thin and light.
Moisture removal
Physical activity always causes moisture release. When you put on ordinary clothes this moisture accumulates in the fabric of your clothes and you start feeling discomfort after a couple of minutes.
This effect doesn’t only bring you unpleasant feeling, but it is also dangerous, because your underwear loses its temperature-preserving properties so you can fall ill. That’s why it is absolutely necessary for your underwear to have moisture-removing features. We use the newest technologies of moisture removal in manufacturing our thermal underwear and thermal socks. The main principle of them is in creating a protective layer of warm air which pushes excessive moisture outside under the influence of pressure difference.
Due to this technology our garments create a feeling of dryness which is comfortable for the skin with the added benefit of faster drying after washing.
Double effect
During intensive physical activity at low temperatures both functions of thermal underwear are essential - heat retention and moisture removal.
For these purposes we apply a multilayer structure of thermal underwear: the inner layer removes moisture away and outer layer retains warmth and in certain models absorbs sweat. The inner layer which contacts the skin is made of moisture-removing synthetics. The outer layer is produced of heat-retaining and moisture-absorbent materials, which can be synthetics, cotton, wool or a combination.
This combination of materials is why you won’t be cold during long jogging trips, or walking in the winter forest, or just doing your work in cold weather.
